Obuntu is about showing up for people when it matters.

Obuntu began with a question that was deeply personal to me: how do we make sure the people we love receive the care and companionship they need, even when life makes it difficult for us to be there all the time?

My grandmother’s experience brought that question closer to home. It made me think about the many families who want to do everything for their loved ones but cannot always be physically present because of their everyday responsibilities.

Conversations with nursing professionals also helped me appreciate the people behind the care: their skills, their responsibilities and the importance of recognising the value of their work.

These experiences inspired me to start building Obuntu.

We are on a learning journey, and I recognise that trust must be earned through our actions. I hope to build an organisation that families can approach with confidence, that patients experience as compassionate and respectful, and that nursing professionals are proud to be associated with.

For me, Obuntu is about showing up for people when it matters.
